Logistics is at the heart of all emergency operations.

Logistics is a highly in-demand skill during a humanitarian crisis and this RedR training course will teach you what it takes to build a logistics career in the humanitarian sector.

Humanitarian logistics encompasses moving goods and equipment, relocating disaster-affected people, transferring casualties and moving of aid, relief workers and volunteers. Around two-thirds of funding in each emergency is spent on logistics, highlighting the need for effective and efficient systems.

This highly practical course provides an overview of logistics in humanitarian emergency operations. The course equips and refreshes individuals with the background and knowledge to apply logistics skills through a combination of on-site visits, exercises and scenarios.

Who is this Course for?

This course is an introduction to humanitarian logistics and suits a wide audience.

Experienced logisticians will benefit from this training and the broader application of logistics to a humanitarian setting such as natural disasters, conflict and refugee situations, building a knowledge bridge for deployment to humanitarian operations.

It is also ideal for anyone involved or interested in building their humanitarian career and wants to work or volunteer in the humanitarian sector - this course will give you the foundations to start a career in logistics.

The course is in English and you need to have a reasonable proficiency of the English language.

Young Humanitarian Professionals

RedR Australia offers a limited number of places on our courses to young Australians who aspire to a career in the humanitarian sector. To be eligible for the Young Humanitarian Professionals rate you must:

  • Be at or under 31 years of age. Note this requirement is only for the YHP Rate, otherwise anyone aged 18 or over can attend any of our training courses
  • Hold a post-graduate qualification in a discipline of relevance to humanitarian work
  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Provide evidence to substantiate the above.
